Marine Engine Saver® Model 551
From the company known for engine protection, Flight Systems is pleased to announce the Model 551 Marine Engine Saver. This is a unit specifically tailored for the unique operating characteristics and protection requirements of Detroit 71, 92 and 149 series engines operating in a marine environment.

The Marine Engine Saver will work with any Detroit engine whether it has DDEC or not, and adds essentia protection features not found with DDEC. Flight Systems has been saving Detroit engines in mining and industrial applications for over 25 years with our Model 550 Engine Saver. We've got an impressive track record of success. Installation takes about 6 hours and is not difficult. Everything needed is supplied. If you want it professionally installed and tested on your vessel, factory on-site installation is available anywhere in the east or gulf coast. (Typical 551 installation shown below on MV Flight).

When these engines are operating under load and a minor problem develops - the loss of a water pump propeller, a clogged sea strainer, loss of exhaust cooling raw water flow into the heat exchanger, etc. - the Model 551 will immediately notify the Captain before the engine overheats so that immediate action can be taken. Once the engine overheats, damage is done. The Model 551 will catch a problem before it gets to that stage.
The Model 551 also monitors raw water flow into the heat exchanger, oil pressure, crankcase pressure, RPM, coolant pressure and temperature and exhaust system cooling water temperature. It operates on any standard marine voltage. The Model 551 incorporates circuitry to eliminate false trips and it is designed to operate in the heat, salt air and vibration common to most engine rooms.
