From the company known for engine protection, Flight Systems is pleased to announce the Model 551 Marine Engine Saver. This is a unit specifically tailored for the unique operating characteristics and protection requirements of Detroit 8v92, 12v71, 12v92 and 16v149 series and similar engines operating in a marine environment.

The Marine Engine Saver will work with any Detroit engine whether it has DDEC or not, and adds essentia protection features not found with DDEC. Flight Systems has been saving Detroit engines in mining and industrial applications for over 25 years with our Model 550 Engine Saver. We've got an impressive track record of success. Installation takes about 6 hours and is not difficult. Everything needed is supplied. If you want it professionally installed and tested on your vessel, factory on-site installation is available anywhere in the east or gulf coast.

The Model 551 will immediately notify the Captain before the engine overheats so that immediate action can be taken. Once the engine overheats, damage is done. The Model 551 will catch a problem before it gets to that stage.

The Model 551 also monitors raw water flow into the heat exchanger, oil pressure, crankcase pressure, RPM, coolant pressure and temperature and exhaust system cooling water temperature. It operates on any standard marine voltage. The Model 551 incorporates circuitry to eliminate false trips and it is designed to operate in the heat, salt air and vibration common to most engine rooms.

Here's What it Does...

The Marine Engine Saver® Detects:

  • Low and /or loss of coolant
  • De-aeration baffle fatigue
  • Broken/worn rings
  • Hole in a piston
  • Loss of oil
  • Partially blocked oil or water pumps
  • Fuel dilution
  • Overspeed
  • Overheating
  • Clogged breathers
  • Worn pump impellers
  • Worn bearings
  • Governor failure
  • Loose radiator cap
  • Scored cylinder

Here's its features...

  • Built-in status panel (optional remote available) gives complete engine operating condition and fault location, even after shutdown.
  • Auxiliary analog outputs for trend analysis and overhaul/maintenance forecasting via radio data link and/or on-board recording.
  • SPDT heavy-duty output relay permits a wide choice of alarm/shutdown options including pre-shutdown warning.
  • Trip points automatically lower when engine is idling or lugged down. All trip and enable points are fully adjustable. Enable time delay changes automatically with engine temperature.
  • Unit will enable on Turbo Boost or RPM (or both) at installer's option. Choice of 3 RPM sources.
  • All internal adjustments have status indicator and are marked for accurate and easy adjustment.
  • Two custom optional inputs.
  • Failsafe operation with flashing lights showing location
  • Easy to install – complete manual supplied.
  • Weather resistant and tamper proof; unit is lockable.
  • 24V input - transient and reverse polarity protected, suppressors built-in to withstand nearby arc welding.
  • Fully supported with spare parts, repair service and test equipment.
